The Catcher in the Rye Field....

Holden has said that he want's to be the catcher in the rye field. He wanted to catch the kids before they fell. To keep them in that age of being a kid, not falling into adulthood, or teenagerhood I guess. Yet I get the sense that Holden is the one needing to be caught. Not to save him from falling into adulthood, but save him from where he's going, to get him on a track he can stay on. He's far to unstable, doesn't seem to like staying in the same place too long. It keeps pushing him towards wanting to runaway. It's nice to think these things can happen, for most people they can't, Holden has a chance, but I can't seem him being like Chris McCandless and going out there all by himself. I can't see him hitchhiking to the west coast.
While Holden is a mover, but he can't move too far. I don't know who the catcher would be in this case, I just know that I think Holden is the one that needs to be caught.
I also found it kind of funny the fact that when Holden went back to the school to write Phoebe a note he can't handle the writings on the wall. He can't handle a "Fuck You". I just find it ironic that he's at Phoebes school, the girl who had said she didn't like Holden's swearing, and now he suddenly can't handle it.
