It started as a dream.
Him, waiting at the alter.
Her, walking arm in arm with her father,
Dressed in white.
The church filled with everyone in their lives.
Watching her,
Mesmerized.

As he gives her away a tear slips from his eye.
He was losing his baby girl today.
She leans in
Places a kiss on his cheek.
She turns around.
Her smile as big as the Savannah sky
And whispers the words
‘I love you.’

As the minister starts the ceremony,
With words everybody knows,
So nobody listens.
She thinks back on how they met,
To where it all started.

‘Speak now or forever hold your peace’

The vows start.
She pours her heart out.
Telling the words she always wanted to say,
but never did.
The rings are shared,
and it’s finally official.

The happiest day of her life.
